MAP- Mathematics Assessment Project

Mathematics Assessment Project           http://map.mathshell.org/

The purpose of the website is MAP. MAP is Mathematics Assesmment Project which allows for teachers to teach and build students knowledge and skills in 21st century math. This programs ensures that students will learn the math rather than fill in a bubble on a test. I would not use this program. I believe if you are a good enough teacher, and do what you are needed to do to make sure your students are learning the curriculum there is no need. I read that technology is not used and I believe being in the 21st century, a student needs to learn about technology and by using it also. I would like to see a teacher use this process, I would then maybe have questions. This is also used in older grades, and I have not observed older grades. This website could help me gain knowledge on how to teach math if I find that my philosophy of teaching is not working, and I need ideas and help on a math lesson or project. I really liked the area of the standards for mathematical practice. It was interesting to see the levels of thinking. It is also interesting that as an elementary school teacher a lot of the same thinking patterns are being used.
I would recommend this to teachers who are thinking of teaching an older grade. I also believe it could help teachers or parents understand how their child is thinking. I think as an educator it is good to know of different ways students are learning and what is being successful.

  1. Nice design. Looks like you got to learn about blogging a few years ago. Do you like what you wrote way back then?
